English Translation

Every year, before the Spring Festival arrives, my family and I are very busy. We clean the house, put away old things, and wipe the tables and windows until they are clean. Mom puts up couplets and the character Fu, I hang red lanterns at the door, and place green plants, hoping for good luck in the new year. Dad goes to the market to buy New Year goods, with fish, meat, and vegetables, and also candies and oranges. I try on new clothes, mostly red, because everyone thinks they bring good luck. In the evening, we plan the New Year's Eve menu together, chat, and feel that home is very warm. // On New Year's Eve, we start preparing the reunion dinner early in the morning. I make dumplings with Mom, with meat and greens inside; Grandpa steams fish, and Grandma makes soup. The table is full of dishes, with chicken, beef, and also rice cake. During the meal, we bless each other and say Happy New Year and good health. After the meal, we watch the Gala, play games, and give red envelopes to the children; inside is New Year money, and they smile happily. Near midnight, we stay up together and watch fireworks from the window. // From the first to the third day, we visit relatives with fruit and snacks. I say my new goals: study better, exercise more, and also help others. On the street there are dragon dances and drum sounds; the atmosphere is lively, and everyone has smiles on their faces. This Spring Festival, I understand more about thanking my family, and I learn to pass on blessings and love in simple ways.
