Trip to the Alhambra

Viaje a la Alhambra

Mi familia y yo viajamos a Granada para visitar la Alhambra. Salimos muy temprano en un autobus desde Malaga. El camino fue tranquilo, con montanas a lo lejos y campos de olivos. Llegamos con sol de la manana y aire fresco y claro. Compramos las entradas y esperamos en la cola cerca de la puerta principal. Dentro del conjunto vimos palacios patios y jardines. Los Palacios Nazaries tenian salas con paredes decoradas y techos de madera. En el Patio de los Leones escuchamos el agua de la fuente y miramos los arcos. Caminamos por el Generalife con flores de muchos colores y olor a jazmin. Desde las torres miramos la ciudad el rio y la Sierra Nevada. Aprendi que la Alhambra fue palacio de reyes musulmanes y despues de reyes cristianos. Usamos una guia de audio sencilla. Nos explicaba la historia y las normas por ejemplo no tocar las paredes y no usar flash. Tomamos muchas fotos y descansamos a la sombra. Bebimos agua y comimos un bocadillo en una pequena cafeteria con terraza. Antes de salir compre un recuerdo una pequena postal con un dibujo de azulejos. Volvimos al hotel cansados pero muy contentos.

English Translation

My family and I traveled to Granada to visit the Alhambra. We left very early on a bus from Malaga. The road was calm, with mountains in the distance and fields of olive trees. We arrived with morning sun and fresh, clear air. We bought the tickets and waited in the line near the main gate. Inside the complex we saw palaces, courtyards, and gardens. The Nasrid Palaces had rooms with decorated walls and wooden ceilings. In the Court of the Lions we listened to the water of the fountain and looked at the arches. We walked through the Generalife, with flowers of many colors and the smell of jasmine. From the towers we looked at the city, the river, and the Sierra Nevada. I learned that the Alhambra was a palace of Muslim kings and later of Christian kings. We used a simple audio guide. It explained the history and the rules to us, for example not to touch the walls and not to use flash. We took many photos and rested in the shade. We drank water and ate a sandwich in a small cafe with a terrace. Before leaving I bought a souvenir, a small postcard with a drawing of tiles. We returned to the hotel tired but very happy.
