Weekend in New York

Un fin de semana en Nueva York

Durante un fin de semana, Sofía y Daniel visitan Nueva York por primera vez. Llegan el sábado por la mañana con una maleta ligera y muchos planes. Caminan por Manhattan, miran los rascacielos, y se sienten pequeños pero emocionados. En una cafetería de barrio toman café y un bagel caliente, mientras observan a la gente que pasa. Después van en metro hasta el Museo de Historia Natural, donde aprenden sobre dinosaurios y océanos. Más tarde cruzan el Puente de Brooklyn a pie, sacan fotos del río y del horizonte, y disfrutan del viento fresco. Por la noche, ellos entran en Times Square. Las pantallas brillan, la música suena, y el lugar parece una fiesta sin fin. Compran una porción de pizza y comparten una botella de agua, porque caminar les da mucha sed. El domingo visitan Central Park; alquilan una bicicleta, ven artistas callejeros, y descansan en la hierba. Antes de volver al hotel, compran recuerdos para la familia. Al final del viaje, están cansados pero felices. Dicen que la ciudad es grande, rápida, y también amable. Prometen regresar otro día para ver más museos, más barrios, y un espectáculo en Broadway.

English Translation

During one weekend, Sofia and Daniel visit New York for the first time. They arrive on Saturday morning with a light suitcase and many plans. They walk through Manhattan, look at the skyscrapers, and feel small but excited. In a neighborhood cafe they have coffee and a warm bagel, while they watch the people who pass. Then they go by subway to the Museum of Natural History, where they learn about dinosaurs and oceans. Later they cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot, take photos of the river and the skyline, and enjoy the cool wind. At night, they enter Times Square. The screens shine, the music plays, and the place seems like a party without end. They buy a slice of pizza and share a bottle of water, because walking makes them very thirsty. On Sunday they visit Central Park; they rent a bicycle, see street artists, and rest on the grass. Before returning to the hotel, they buy souvenirs for the family. At the end of the trip, they are tired but happy. They say that the city is big, fast, and also friendly. They promise to return another day to see more museums, more neighborhoods, and a show on Broadway.
