Weekend in the Mountains

Helg i bergen

Under helgen åker Emma och Jonas till bergen. De vill vila från staden och andas frisk luft. På lördagsmorgonen tar de bussen till en liten by nära en hög dal. De har varma tröjor, mössor, vantar och en karta i väskan. Vädret är klart, men vinden är kall. De börjar gå uppför en smal stig. De pratar lugnt, tar korta pauser och dricker vatten. Emma ser en sjö som blänker som glas, och Jonas pekar på snö på topparna. Vid lunchen sätter de sig på en sten, äter smörgåsar med ost och äpplen, och delar choklad. De lyssnar på fåglar och känner tallens doft. Efter maten vandrar de längre, men de går sakta när stigen blir brant. De möter en familj med en liten hund som viftar på svansen. Alla hälsar och ler. During the weekend, Emma and Jonas go to the mountains. They want to rest from the city and breathe fresh air. On Saturday morning they take the bus to a small village near a high valley. They have warm sweaters, hats, mittens, and a map in the bag. The weather is clear, but the wind is cold. They begin to walk uphill on a narrow path. They talk calmly, take short breaks, and drink water. Emma sees a lake that shines like glass, and Jonas points at snow on the peaks. At lunch they sit on a stone, eat sandwiches with cheese and apples, and share chocolate. They listen to birds and smell the scent of the pine. After the food they hike farther, but they walk slowly when the path becomes steep. They meet a family with a small dog that wags its tail. Everyone greets and smiles. In the evening they arrive at a simple cabin. They light a stove, cook soup, and make tea. They play cards and tell small stories. Outside the stars shine, and the moon makes the snow soft and white. On Sunday they go down toward the village again, tired but happy, and they already plan the next trip to the mountains.
