Eid and Its Traditions

English Translation

Eid is considered one of the most important holidays for Muslims. It comes after the month of Ramadan and is called Eid al-Fitr. People celebrate this day as the end of fasting and the beginning of a new time of joy and gathering. On the morning of Eid, people wear new clothes as a sign of cleanliness and a new beginning, and they go to mosques for the Eid prayer, which brings together the people of the neighborhood and creates a joyful, shared atmosphere. After the prayer, people greet each other and exchange congratulations and wishes. Families gather in homes and prepare special foods such as cakes, sweets, and other local dishes. Children are very happy because they receive Eidiyah, which is small amounts of money given by adults to children as a symbol of joy and generosity. People also visit their relatives and friends. Visiting is an opportunity to strengthen family and community relationships. On this day, people are encouraged to help the poor and needy by giving charity and gifts. This makes Eid a time of love, solidarity, and sharing among members of the community. Eid is not only a day for food and gifts, but also a season that symbolizes human values and social connection. Many people believe that the atmosphere of Eid brings hope and happiness after a long month of worship and fasting.
