My Routine in Third Grade

رُوتيني في الصَّفِّ الثّالِثِ

اِسمي لَيلى وَأَنا في الصَّفِّ الثّالِثِ. كُلَّ يَومٍ أَذهَبُ إِلى المَدرَسَةِ في الصَّباحِ الباكِرِ. نَبدَأُ الدُّروسَ بِمادَّةِ الرِّياضِيّاتِ، وَأَحاوِلُ أَن أَفهَمَ الجَمعَ وَالطَّرحَ. بَعدَ ذلِكَ نَدرُسُ اللُّغَةَ العَرَبِيَّةَ. أَقرَأُ قِصَصًا صَغيرَةً وَأَكتُبُ جُمَلًا في دَفتَري. أُحِبُّ العَرَبِيَّةَ لِأَنِّي أَتَعلَّمُ كَلِماتٍ جَديدَةً. في الحِصَّةِ الثّالِثَةِ نَدرُسُ العُلومَ. أَتَعلَّمُ عَنِ النَّباتاتِ وَالحَيَواناتِ، وَأُشاهِدُ صُوَرًا في الكِتابِ. أَحيانًا نَدرُسُ التّارِيخَ أَو الجُغرافيا، وَنَتَحَدَّثُ عَن بِلادٍ وَمَناطِقَ بَعِيدَةٍ. في بَعضِ الأَيّامِ نَذهَبُ إِلى حِصَّةِ الرِّياضَةِ، وَأَلعَبُ كُرةَ القَدَمِ مَعَ أَصدِقائي. هَذا يَجعَلُني مَسرورَةً. بَعدَ المَدرَسَةِ أَعودُ إِلى بَيتي. أُمِّي تَطلُبُ مِنِّي أَن أَفعَلَ الوَاجِبَ البَيتِيَّ. أَشعُرُ بِالمَلَلِ وَلا أُحِبُّ أَن أَفعَلَهُ أَحيانًا. أُفَضِّلُ أَن أَلعَبَ بِاللُّعبِ أَو أُشاهِدَ التِّلفازَ. وَلَكِن أَبي يَقولُ لِي: "الوَاجِبُ مُهِمٌّ لِلتَّعلِيمِ." فَأَجلِسُ وَأَكتُبُ في نِهايَةِ اليَومِ. مَعَ أَنَّني لا أُحِبُّ الوَاجِبَ كَثيرًا، أَعرِفُ أَنَّهُ يُساعِدُني لِكَي أُصبِحَ طالِبَةً نَاجِحَةً.

English Translation

My name is Layla and I am in third grade. Every day I go to school early in the morning. We start the lessons with mathematics, and I try to understand addition and subtraction. After that we study Arabic. I read small stories and write sentences in my notebook. I love Arabic because I learn new words. In the third class we study science. I learn about plants and animals, and I look at pictures in the book. Sometimes we study history or geography, and we talk about countries and faraway places. On some days we go to physical education class, and I play football with my friends. This makes me happy. After school I return to my home. My mother asks me to do my homework. I feel bored and sometimes I do not like to do it. I prefer to play with toys or watch television. But my father tells me: “Homework is important for learning.” So I sit and write at the end of the day. Even though I do not like homework very much, I know that it helps me to become a successful student.
