Op pleinen staan podia met bands en djs. In straten spelen artiesten met vuur of poppen. Kinderen lachen, ouders kijken, en vrienden praten laat in de avond. De sfeer is vrolijk en open. Veel activiteiten zijn gratis. Bezoekers kunnen kiezen uit concerten, straattheater en danslessen. Er zijn kraampjes met friet, wafels en lokale bieren. Vrijwilligers helpen bij informatiepunten. The Gentse Feesten are a big city festival in Ghent. Every July, thousands of people come to the center. For ten days the city is full of music, dance, and theater. On squares there are stages with bands and DJs. In the streets, artists play with fire or puppets. Children laugh, parents watch, and friends talk late in the evening. The atmosphere is cheerful and open. Many activities are free. Visitors can choose from concerts, street theater, and dance lessons. There are stalls with fries, waffles, and local beers. Volunteers help at information points. The organization pays attention to the environment. People use reusable cups and throw waste in the right bins. The police and emergency services keep everything safe. If there is pain or problems, there is first aid. The city is easy to reach. Many people come by train or bike, because parking is difficult. Around the water and between old buildings it is nice to walk. During the day it is calm for families, but in the evening it is busier and louder. A map and a program help visitors plan. Whoever sees bad weather takes a coat. Whoever expects sun uses sunscreen and drinks enough water. This way everyone enjoys the Gentse Feesten.
