Ik ben trambestuurder in een drukke stad. Elke ochtend doe ik mijn uniform aan en drink ik snel een kop koffie. Dan loop ik naar de remise, waar de trams staan te wachten. Ik maak de tram klaar voor de rit. Ik controleer de remmen, de bel, en de lichten. Ik zet het scherm aan met de lijn en het eindpunt. Als de deuren goed sluiten, vertrek ik rustig. Op de eerste haltes stappen veel mensen in. Ik groet iedereen vriendelijk en ik help een toerist met een kaartje. Ik let op de rails, de borden, en de verkeerslichten, en ik houd afstand van fietsen. In de spits is het vaak heel vol. Ik blijf kalm en ik praat duidelijk door de omroep. Soms moet ik wachten door een storing of door een auto op het spoor. Dan leg ik uit waarom we stilstaan, en ik zeg hoe lang het duurt. Bij regen zie ik minder goed, dus ik rijd nog voorzichtiger. Ik neem pauze in het eindpunt, waar ik water drink en mijn benen strek. Aan het einde van de dag maak ik de cabine netjes en meld ik bijzonderheden. Ik ben trots op mijn werk, omdat ik mensen veilig en op tijd breng.

I am a tram driver in a busy city. Every morning I put on my uniform and quickly drink a cup of coffee. Then I walk to the depot, where the trams are waiting. I prepare the tram for the ride. I check the brakes, the bell, and the lights. I turn on the screen with the line and the final stop. When the doors close well, I depart calmly. At the first stops many people get on. I greet everyone kindly and I help a tourist with a ticket. I pay attention to the rails, the signs, and the traffic lights, and I keep distance from bicycles. During rush hour it is often very full. I stay calm and I speak clearly through the announcement system. Sometimes I have to wait because of a malfunction or because of a car on the track. Then I explain why we are standing still, and I say how long it will take. In rain I see less well, so I drive even more carefully. I take a break at the final stop, where I drink water and stretch my legs. At the end of the day I tidy the cab and report special details. I am proud of my work, because I bring people safely and on time.
