A Day at a Polish Shopping Mall

Hieraŭ posttagmeze mi vizitis grandan butikcentron en la centro de mia urbo en suda Pollando. Mi iris tien per tramo, ĉar la vetero estis malvarma kaj venta, kaj mi volis resti seka. La konstruaĵo brilis per vitro kaj metalo, kun larĝaj koridoroj, multaj eskalatoroj, kaj granda korto kun altaj plantoj. En la unua etaĝo mi serĉis novan vintran jakon, ĉar mia malnova jam ne varmigis sufiĉe. Mi eniris tri diversajn vendejojn, komparis prezojn, tuŝis la ŝtofojn, kaj demandis la vendistojn pri garantio. En unu pola marko estis rabato de dudek procentoj, sed la fasono ne taŭgis por mia korpo. Fine mi trovis grizan jakon en internacia butiko, kaj mi elektis ankaŭ ĉapon kaj gantojn. Mi pagis per karto, en zlotoj, kaj ricevis longan kvitancon. Poste mi supreniris al la dua etaĝo por vidi elektronikajn aferojn. Mi rigardis poŝtelefonojn, aŭdilojn, kaj malgrandajn fotoaparatojn. La konsilanto afable klarigis la diferencojn inter modeloj, sen tro premi min aĉeti. Mi decidis atendi ĝis la postkristnaska vendo, por ŝpari iom da mono. Mi ankaŭ vizitis la manĝokortan zonon. Tie odoris bone, miksita aromo de kafo, supo, kaj bakitaj desertoj. Mi mendis pladon de pierogoj kun terpomo kaj cepo, kaj glason da kompot-trinkaĵo. Mi sidis apud fenestro, rigardis la neĝajn tegmentojn, kaj aŭskultis miksitan muzikon el varbaj anoncetoj. La loko estis vigla, sed ne tro brua. Antaŭ ol foriri, mi eniris librovendejon. Mi foliumis gvidlibron pri vojaĝo tra Mazovio, kaj aĉetis malgrandan vortaron, utilan por mia amiko kiu lernas la polan. Kiam mi eliris eksteren, jam ekis mallumo. Mi pensis pri la leĝo, laŭ kiu multaj butikoj ne malfermas dimanĉe, kaj mi ĝojis, ke hodiaŭ estis sabato. La vizito sentigis min kontenta, kaj mi volas reveni baldaŭ kun mia familio. Antaŭe mi kutimis aĉeti en malgrandaj butikoj apud la hejmo, sed tia centro donas pli da elektoj, bona vario de servoj, kaj komforta ripozejo. Tamen mi provas aĉeti konscie, atenti pri uzo de sakoj, kaj elekti produktojn de lokaj fabrikantoj.

English Translation

Yesterday afternoon I visited a large shopping mall in the center of my city in southern Poland. I went there by tram, because the weather was cold and windy, and I wanted to stay dry. The building shone with glass and metal, with wide corridors, many escalators, and a big court with tall plants. On the first floor I looked for a new winter jacket, because my old one no longer warmed enough. I entered three different stores, compared prices, touched the fabrics, and asked the salespeople about warranty. In one Polish brand there was a discount of twenty percent, but the style did not suit my body. Finally I found a gray jacket in an international shop, and I also chose a cap and gloves. I paid by card, in zlotys, and received a long receipt. After that I went up to the second floor to see electronic things. I looked at mobile phones, headphones, and small cameras. The consultant kindly explained the differences between models, without pressing me too much to buy. I decided to wait until the post-Christmas sale, to save some money. I also visited the food-court area. There it smelled good, a mixed aroma of coffee, soup, and baked desserts. I ordered a dish of pierogi with potato and onion, and a glass of compote drink. I sat near a window, looked at the snowy roofs, and listened to mixed music from advertising announcements. The place was lively, but not too noisy. Before leaving, I entered a bookstore. I leafed through a guidebook about travel through Mazovia, and bought a small dictionary, useful for my friend who is learning Polish. When I went out, darkness had already begun. I thought about the law according to which many shops do not open on Sundays, and I was glad that today was Saturday. The visit made me feel content, and I want to return soon with my family. Earlier I used to shop in small stores near home, but such a center gives more choices, a good variety of services, and a comfortable resting place. However I try to shop consciously, pay attention to the use of bags, and choose products from local manufacturers.
