Hiking in the Carpathians: A Beginner's Outing

Îmi place să fac drumeții în Carpați, pentru că munții sunt frumoși și liniștiți. Într-o dimineață de vară, eu și doi prieteni am plecat din Brașov spre un traseu ușor. Am verificat harta, vremea și indicațiile de pe panouri, apoi am pus în rucsac apă, sandvișuri, o pelerină și o lanternă. Poteca a urcat prin pădure, pe lângă un pârâu rece. Aerul a fost curat și răcoros, iar păsările au cântat. Am trecut peste un pod de lemn și am întâlnit un cioban cu oi. Ne-a salutat și ne-a spus să urmăm marcajele alb-roșu, ca să rămânem pe drumul sigur. După două ore am ajuns la un punct de belvedere. Acolo am făcut poze cu vârfurile și am luat o pauză lungă. Soarele a ieșit dintre nori, dar vântul a rămas puternic, așa că am îmbrăcat jachetele subțiri. La coborâre am mers încet, ca să nu alunecăm pe pietre ude. Seara am ajuns la o cabană mică, unde am băut ceai cald și am scris în jurnal. Drumeția a fost sigură, plăcută și educativă, iar eu abia aștept să revin.

English Translation

I like to go hiking in the Carpathians, because the mountains are beautiful and quiet. One summer morning, my two friends and I left from Brașov toward an easy trail. We checked the map, the weather, and the information on the boards, then we put water, sandwiches, a raincoat, and a flashlight in the backpack. The path climbed through the forest, beside a cold stream. The air was clean and cool, and the birds sang. We crossed a wooden bridge and met a shepherd with sheep. He greeted us and told us to follow the white-red markings, so we would stay on the safe path. After two hours we arrived at a viewpoint. There we took photos of the peaks and had a long break. The sun came out from the clouds, but the wind stayed strong, so we put on our light jackets. On the way down we walked slowly, so we would not slip on wet stones. In the evening we reached a small cabin, where we drank hot tea and wrote in a journal. The hike was safe, pleasant, and educational, and I can’t wait to return.
