Kununua Chapati

Ninaamka asubuhi naenda sokoni karibu na nyumba yangu. Nataka kununua chapati kwa chai ya asubuhi. Ninasalimia muuza chapati, nasema hujambo rafiki, leo una chapati tamu. Anasema ndiyo, ni mpya na moto. Nauliza bei, anasema chapati moja ni mia mbili. Natazama, zinapendeza sana. Nasema nita chukua tatu kwa familia yangu. Anafunika chapati kwenye karatasi safi. Natoa pesa, ananirudishia chenji na tabasamu. Nampokea, nasema asante sana. Naondoka polepole, harufu nzuri inanifuata barabarani. Nyumbani tunaweka chapati kwenye meza, tunakunywa chai, tunakula pamoja, tunafurahi siku inaanza vizuri. Najifunza kusema tafadhali na samahani, na ninajisikia jasiri zaidi kila siku.

English Translation

I wake up in the morning and go to the market near my house. I want to buy chapati for morning tea. I greet the chapati seller, I say hello friend, today do you have sweet chapati? He says yes, it is new and hot. I ask the price, he says one chapati is two hundred. I look, they look very nice. I say I will take three for my family. He wraps the chapati in clean paper. I give money, he gives me change with a smile. I receive it, I say thank you very much. I leave slowly, a good smell follows me on the road. At home we put the chapati on the table, we drink tea, we eat together, we are happy, the day starts well. I am learning to say please and sorry, and I feel more confident every day.
