A Farmer's Day

English Translation

A farmer is a person who works on the farm every day. He wakes up early before the sun rises, drinks light tea, and prepares tools like a hoe, a shovel, and a bucket. When he arrives at the farm, he checks the plants and the soil, then plants seeds or cultivates rows so that air can pass well. In the dry season he carries water from a well or a river, and waters carefully so the plants do not dry out. In the rainy time he reduces watering and cuts weeds that grow fast. The farmer also takes care of animals like chickens, goats, or cattle, giving them food, water, and a clean place to sleep. To prevent pests, sometimes he uses simple methods like ashes, chili, and cleaning often. In the evening he collects crops like maize, tomatoes, potatoes, and beans, then stores them in granaries or takes them to the market. This work needs patience, strength, and planning, because the weather changes, the market price can fall, and machines can break. However the farmer enjoys seeing small seeds grow, the family getting food, and the community getting fresh products. Through his work, he helps the local economy and protects the land by using natural fertilizer and letting the field rest after harvest. He also cooperates with neighbors, exchanging simple advice, organizing saving groups, and planning days of shared work.
