Farsi Reading Passages

Farsi, also known as Persian, is spoken by more than 100 million people across Iran, Afghanistan (as Dari), and Tajikistan (as Tajik). It belongs to the Indo-European language family and has a long literary tradition that stretches back over a thousand years. Classical Persian poetry, from figures such as Rumi, Hafez, and Ferdowsi, remains central to the cultural identity of Persian-speaking communities. The modern varieties of Farsi share a common grammar and core vocabulary, though each region has developed its own pronunciation and expressions. Today, Persian continues to play a vital role in literature, film, politics, and education throughout the region, while also influencing neighboring languages and global culture.
